I am very much a beginner activator I love setting up outside and seeing how many contacts I can make.
I would say bring enough stuff to make yourself comfortable and get ready to speak with people who come across you operating in a park. POTA is a great way to open a dialog with people and invite them to try to get their license. When I am out in the public I try to be a good steward of the hobby by being open to answering questions and compliant with all the rules in the park.
I love to operate digital modes when activating so far I have only activated using digital modes. I have been studying and practicing my CW skills and am slowly transitioning my set up to do CW activations. I love the challenge of it.
The most important thing in all of this is to have fun so make sure you have fun while you are doing it.
Here I’m operating the KENWOOD TS440S with SignaLink and manual tuner.
