Welcome to "What's on Your Workbench"! As amateur radio enthusiasts, we tend to stay indoors and spend more time in our shacks during the winter season (January to April). To stay connected with each other and continue learning and growing, we host a monthly Zoom session. During these ninety-minute sessions, we gather from the comfort of our ham radio shacks to share our latest projects over our favorite drinks. We also do group builds where we all work on a project together and share a few laughs while making. If you're interested in being part of this event, you can use the provided link to get more information.

2025 January Kit Build

As winter settles in, we are excited to kick off our "What's on Your Workbench" Build Series!

This time, we’re starting with the QRP Dummy Load kit from the Four States QRP Group. This kit features an SMD design and is easy to solder, making it perfect for beginners or anyone looking to refresh their soldering skills.

The kit costs around $15, including shipping.

You can purchase the kit here: https://4sqrp.com/4SDL.php

For more information about the build, check out this link: https://wb0isg.com/2023/09/06/four-states-qrp-group-dummy-load/

If you're interested in participating in this build, please reply to me at membership@gsara.org, and I'll keep track of everyone (note that you will still need to purchase the kit yourself).

We will also schedule a Zoom build date, although you're not required to build it during the aoom session. The community aspect is part of the fun of these kit builds!

PROJECTS

  • DenCo Battery Build (group)

This was the club's first group battery build. A kit from DenCo Enterprises provided everything needed to assemble, solder, and build a 5.5aH Battery.

  • Tape Measure Yagi (group)

Our second club group build was the famous tape measure, Yagi. As a club, we like to do builds that we can later test, and this particular build prepares folks for our Fall Live Fox Hunt.

  • Four States QRP Dummy Load

Starting in January 2025, we’ll be building the Four States QRP Dummy Load Kit. Learn more and get your kit ordered!
