Summer Field Days

SUMMER FIELD DAY

Every year, the ARRL hosts the Summer Field Day, a training exercise for amateur radio operators to improve their emergency communication skills. This event is the biggest emergency preparedness drill in the country and is our club's most important "on the air" event of the year. Since its establishment in 1933, radio enthusiasts throughout North America have perfected their ability to quickly set up radio communication equipment in various settings, including remote locations under tents and Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) during disasters. It is strongly recommended to use alternative power sources for emergency situations since electricity and public infrastructure are typically the first to fail during severe weather or natural disasters.

At our site, the stations operate continuously for 24 hours, providing all operators with ample opportunity to test them out. Additionally, our club takes advantage of the extra points available for experimenting with various modes, making satellite contacts, and engaging young people in the activity.

We hold regular demonstrations for the public to try their hand at making contact with our GOTA Station or learn how to fox hunt using Radio Direction Finding. While these events primarily focus on radio activities, we also relish spending the weekend onsite, where we indulge in delicious food and drinks, and enjoy making s'mores over an open campfire.

Don't miss out on the fun! Join us for Field Day and experience it firsthand.

Field Day is a wonderful opportunity to make

new acquaintances, catch up with old friends,

and share tales of how we linked up with fellow

ham radio enthusiasts across the globe.
